More psychological sciences students receive awards

Submitted by Michael Young

The psychological sciences department gave out five additional awards this spring. With the 13 announced May 3, the department awarded $9,000 in scholarships to 18 undergraduate and graduate students, all thanks to the generosity of our alumni and other donors.

Nick Parker, senior, Overland Park, received the Dr. Leon Rappoport Psychology Undergraduate Scholarship. This scholarship honors the memory of a former faculty member of the department and is targeted at a nontraditional, high-achieving student. Parker is minoring in business and conducted research in Heather Bailey's cognitive psychology laboratory.

The Dunlap Fellowship in Industrial Psychology was awarded to Kelsey Couture, Great Bend; Frank Giordano, Brooklyn, New York; Stacy Stoffregen, Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Nathan Voss, Wausau, Wisconsin. This year, the fellowship was awarded to second-year doctoral students in the industrial/organizational doctoral program who were doing well in assistantships, demonstrated productive research activity, and were making strong progress toward their degree.
