Powercat Financial selects new peer financial counselors
K-State's student money management center, Powercat Financial, recently selected peer financial counselors for the 2018-2019 year. Peer financial counselors assist students with their financial questions and college financial planning decisions, as well as provide free financial workshops and host interactive financial events. This is a unique on-campus internship opportunity for students studying in financial-related programs such as personal financial planning, finance, accounting, agribusiness and economics.
The following students are new peer financial counselors:
Kathryn Schieferecke, junior in economics and Spanish, Bennington; Emma Drees, junior in finance, Brookville; Jesse Mark, sophomore in personal financial planning, Derby; Katrina Aleuy, sophomore in accounting and finance, Manhattan; Connor Fulk, junior in accounting and finance, Olathe; Thomas Meek, sophomore in personal financial planning and Spanish, Topeka; and Morgan Flax, freshman in finance, Utica.
From out of state: Jack Giardino, junior in personal financial planning, Washington, Iowa; Philip Wegman, sophomore in personal financial planning, Taylor, Missouri; and Kevin Hernandez, junior in finance, Millburn, New Jersey.
In addition, William Orth, senior in accounting, Prairie Village, will serve as a new graduate assistant for Powercat Financial while completing his master's in accountancy. Nathan Astle, Provo, Utah, also will be a graduate assistant while completing a master's in couples and family therapy.
The following eight students are returning peer financial counselors:
Emily Koochel, doctoral student in family studies and human services, Great Bend.
From Greater Kansas City: Gretchen Holthaus, senior in accounting, and Abby Pope, senior in personal financial planning, both from Leawood; and Avery Bolar, junior in finance, Prairie Village.
Joshua Payne, senior in personal financial planning, Lyndon; Kaden Stein, senior in accounting, Spearville; and Lyndon Breckenridge, senior in accounting, Wichita.
From out of state: Landon Warmund, senior in personal financial planning, Grain Valley, Missouri.
