Dancing in December: Dance program presents WinterDance 2011 Dec. 1-3
Sugarplums won’t be the only thing dancing this December. Kansas State University dance program students will perform choreography in a variety of dance styles for WinterDance 2011.
The annual dance showcase will be at 7:30 p.m. Dec. 1-3, with a matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 3. All performances are in Nichols Theater.
"WinterDance 2011 will feature ballet, contemporary, jazz and tap, covering a wide range of moods and characters, from dark and intense to delightful and playful,” said Neil Dunn, instructor of dance at K-State and faculty choreographer for the performance.
The program will also feature holiday-themed pieces, including performances to "Frosty the Snow Man," "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas" and "Sleigh Ride."
In addition to Dunn, K-State faculty choreographers for the performance include Julie Pentz, associate professor of dance, and Joyce Yagerline, associate professor of dance.
Tickets cost $8 to $14, with a variety of discounts available for university students, faculty and staff, seniors and military families. They can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays or by calling McCain at 785-532-6428 during box office hours.
