Here to Help Guide released

Submitted by K-State Clery Compliance

K-State is committed to providing a safe and positive living, learning and working environment where students, staff, faculty and visitors can enjoy the benefits and opportunities the K-State community offers, free from discrimination.

As part of that commitment, K-State adheres to the requirements outlined in the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, also known as the Clery Act. This federal law applies to most public and private universities, and is tied directly to federal funding of various kinds, including federal student aid. For this and other reasons it is imperative that K-State and individuals associated with the university comply with the conditions set forth by the Clery Act.

One such condition requires written notification regarding the options available for support and reporting at the Manhattan, Olathe and Polytechnic campuses following a sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, or stalking. The Here to Help Guide contains information about resources and support services for individuals in the K-State community.

K-State continues to sponsor various initiatives to increase awareness, educate and provide resources relating to individual and university obligations under the Clery Act. One of these initiatives is a convenient global reporting website where reports related to Clery Act crimes; academic violations; code of conduct violations; students of concern; discrimination, based on race, color, ethnic or national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, age, ancestry, disability, genetic information, military status, or veteran status; harassment, including sexual harassment; domestic violence; dating violence; retaliation; and stalking may be submitted.

Any questions regarding the Here to Help Guide, or Clery Act compliance in general may be directed to Sarah F. Barrett, coordinator of Clery Act federal compliance, at ksuclery@k-state.edu.
