Manhattan High School students share visual story telling collaboration at Beach Museum of Art

Submitted by Kelsey Longpine

Junior English students at Manhattan High School have been working with community participants, including the Marianna Kistler Beach Museum of Art and The Fellow, to learn more about visual literacy and communication, particularly how to use the arts to convey complex ideas.

Students will use inquiry and design thinking to tell a story from their community that matters to them. This issue-centered project seeks to answer the question: "Why do stories matter?"

Student displays will be on view May 3-5 at the Beach Museum of Art during museum hours

Student presentations will take place 9:30-11 a.m. and 1:30-3 p.m. Thursday, May 3, in the museum's UMB Theater.

A public reception will be from 5-7 p.m. May 3 at the museum.
