Submitted by Donna Ekart

Hale Library Concert Series

The Hale Library Concert Series opens its sixth season Friday, Nov. 11, with a performance by Dr. David Littrell, university distinguished professor of music, on cello, along with K-State music department's Amanda Arrington on piano and harpsichord. The pair will showcase works by Beethoven, Lalo, Arvo Pärt, Haydn, Cassadó, and Bach. This concert will mark the debut performance on the recently acquired harpsichord which belonged to emeritus faculty member (and Hale Library Concert Series alum), Robert Edwards.

The 2011-2012 season will also feature concerts in February and April. Friday, Feb. 3, Associate Professor Craig Parker, coronet, Professor Paul Hunt, trombone, Assistant Professor Amy Rosine, soprano, Professor Cora Cooper, violin, and Edwards, piano, will perform "The Music of Sousa's Soloists." The season will close on Friday, April 27 with an encore concert from series favorite Slawomir Dobrzanski on piano. The concert series is underwritten by The Friends of the K-State Libraries. It was established to feature the talents of K-State faculty and alumni in an intimate setting while supporting the endowment fund for the refurbishment and upkeep of K-State Libraries' Mason & Hamlin grand piano.

All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in Hale Library’s Hemisphere Room, and are followed by a reception with wine and dessert. Tickets are $25 per concert or $70 for a season pass. Bring a friend and enjoy an evening of exhilarating music and good company! Online registration is available via the KSU Foundation, or you may make reservations by contacting K-State Libraries at 532-7400 or libfrnds@k-state.edu.
