Fire Prevention Week is Oct. 9-14

Submitted by James Seymour

K-State Fire Safety will have an information booth during Fire Prevention Week, Oct. 9-14, in Bosco Student Plaza. K-State Fire Marshall Randy Slover and the Manhattan Fire Department will be available to answer questions.

This year's focus is "Every Second Counts — Plan 2 Ways Out! Have an evacuation plan in case of emergencies."

Hands-on fire extinguisher training also will be available. Learn the PASS — pull, aim, squeeze, sweep — method for fire extinguisher use.

Training will be offered at the following times and locations on the Manhattan campus:

  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, at Wefald Hall.
  • 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, and Wednesday, Oct. 11, in Bosco Student Plaza.

A training also will be offered on the Polytechnic campus from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, east of the College Center building.
