Cats for Inclusion kicks off fall 2017 campaign

Submitted by Darrell Reese

Cats for Inclusion will kick off its fall 2017 campaign with a community dialogue at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18, in Town Hall at the Leadership Studies Building.

The purpose of this event is to better understand the campus climate and experiences of students, and build a network of individuals, groups and organizations working toward a more inclusive K-State community through conversation and collaboration.

Established in 2015, the Cats for Inclusion campaign set out to address issues of racial injustice within the K-State and Manhattan communities. A partnership created between the Black Student Union and Staley School of Leadership Studies, the campaign is a communitywide initiative that focuses on increasing the capacity of the community to take on racism through public forums and leadership training on race, multiculturalism and justice. Since then, the campaign has grown to include more campus and community partners and take on more issues through ongoing engagement.

The event is co-hosted by the newly formed K-State Alliance for Peace and Justice.
