K-State, KU sponsor 15th annual Prairie Analysis Seminar
Several leading experts on aspects of mathematics in harmonic analysis, partial differential equations and geometric measure theory will be the featured speakers at the 15th annual Prairie Analysis Seminar at Kansas State University.
The conference, which is free and open to the public, starts at noon on Friday, Sept. 8, and continues all day Saturday, Sept. 9, with registration in 121 Cardwell Hall. It is sponsored by the mathematics departments of K-State and the University of Kansas. The meeting is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.
The conference features Svitlana Mayboroda, the University of Minnesota, who will give two one-hour talks, and also features José María Martell, Instituto de Ciencias Matemáticas, and Raanan Schul, Stony Brook University, who will each give one-hour talks.
The speakers will focus on recent mathematical advances in the understanding of mathematical analysis and geometry and the rich interplay between them.
In addition, there will be about 20 shorter talks. There is an expected attendance of around 40-50, which includes mathematicians from throughout the U.S. as well as a few international participants.
Conference organizers Marianne Korten and Nathan Albin, professors of mathematics at K-State, together with Estela Gavosto and Rodolfo Torres, mathematics professors at the University of Kansas, and mathematics professor Charles Moore, Washington State University, received a grant from the National Science Foundation for the seminar series from 2015 through 2017. The annual conference alternates between K-State and KU.
