Security studies doctoral student presents research at West Point

Submitted by Andrew Long

Patricia Blocksome, doctoral student in security studies, presented a paper at the sixth annual Network Science Workshop, April 22-24, at the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, N.Y. The paper, titled "'Force Multipliers': Conditional Effectiveness of Military and INGO Human Security Interventions," examines the effects of military and civilian interveners on human security outcomes in countries that have experienced civil conflict or natural disasters.

The paper is co-authored by Amanda Murdie and Sam Bell, both assistant professors of political science and security studies faculty, and Blocksome and Kevin Brown, also a doctoral student in security studies. The research was funded in part by the Kauffman Foundation.
