Update on WannaCry ransomware

Submitted by Information Technology Services

On May 15, initial scanning of the K-State network for the WannaCry ransomware threat identified more than 560 vulnerable Windows systems. In collaboration with system administrators from across campus, there are now fewer than 100 vulnerable systems. These remaining systems continue to pose risks to K-State and were blocked from the K-State network as of May 25, per university policy. Read more about the update

If you are hosting guests on campus — including conference, camp and orientation attendees — please advise them about the WannaCry ransomware, and have them apply the latest software updates to their computers prior to their arrival.

Guests can contact the IT Help Desk for assistance at 785-532-7722 or helpdesk@k-state.edu.
