Union Program Council selects 2017-2018 executive board

The newly selected members of the K-State Student Union Program Council 2017-2018 executive board have the opportunity to leave their mark on campus. These student leaders will plan more than 150 events for next year.

UPC is responsible for organizing events in the Union and around campus. Funded by student privilege fees, the council provides social, cultural, educational and recreational activities.

The executive board leads committees made up of student volunteers who help plan a variety of events that entertain and enlighten the campus. For the board selection process, candidates underwent an application and interview process. 

2017-2018 Union Program Council executive board members:

Jordan Herrick, junior in mass communications, Burlingame, films committee; LeighAna Huerter, senior in apparel and textiles, Chanute, promotions committee; Heather Albers, junior in apparel and textiles, Hays, after hours committee; Andrew Marsh, junior in marketing, Haysville, after hours committee; Ty Herbin, junior in secondary education, Junction City, music committee.

From Greater Kansas City: Laken Horton, sophomore in journalism and mass communications, Kansas City, multicultural committee; Laura Apel, senior in hospitality management, Lenexa, president; Swapnil Gupta, junior in computer engineering, music committee, Kate King-Hagen, junior in modern languages and management, vice-president for operations, and Alex Maynard, senior in communication sciences and disorders, vice-president for membership, Zach Stanley, senior in industrial engineering, community committee; Michael Varhola, freshman in construction science and management, after hours committee, all from Overland Park; and Erin Sullivan, senior in marketing, Shawnee, daytime programs committee.

Rachael Herter, senior in English, campus entertainment committee, and Michael Tiede, senior in mechanical engineering, forums committee, both from Larned; Emily Brummett, sophomore in human ecology, Manhattan, after hours committee; Jason Heikes, freshman in psychology, Riley, community committee; Sarah Bures, junior in marketing, music committee and Alexus Lacy, senior in mass communications, promotions committee, both from Topeka

From Wichita: Brooke Colglazier, freshman in hospitality management, arts committee and Liz Nguyen, junior in psychology, films committee.
