Noted patent attorney to deliver Distinguished Chemistry Alumni Seminar Oct. 28

John M. Collins

John M. Collins, an eminent patent attorney who earned a bachelor's of science in chemistry cum laude from Kansas State University, will deliver the Distinguished Chemistry Alumni Seminar at 1:30 p.m. Friday in 4 King Hall. His lecture, "The New Patent Act and Its Impact on University Research and Technology Transfer," is free and open to the public.

After graduating from K-State, Collins earned his juris doctorate from the University of Chicago and then joined the firm of Hovey Williams LLC in Kansas City, Mo., for whom he is now counsel. Collins is an expert on patent prosecution, trade secrets and licensing in all areas of the chemical and mechanical arts. He has been admitted to the bar in Illinois, Missouri, Arizona and the Supreme Court of the United States, among others, and has been honored by Best Lawyers in America for more than 20 years.
