Engineering extension director to conduct workshop in Estonia

By David Carter

David Carter, director of the Kansas Energy Program, engineering extension, has been invited to conduct a four-day environmental management systems workshop March 28-31 for approximately 25 European students at the Estonian University of Life Sciences, Tartu, Estonia. Carter is a registered auditor for the international environmental management systems standard, ISO 14001.

The workshop was initially conceived and coordinated by Kristi Loit, an Estonian student who had participated in the 2015 Summer Institute on Environmental Stewardship based at Kansas State University and coordinated by engineering extension through a U.S. Department of State grant. The environmental management systems workshop is funded through the university in Estonia and approved by Kalev Sepp, the university's department head of nature conservation and landscape management.
