Internationally renowned agricultural sustainability professor to give agronomy seminar today

Molly Jahn, professor in the Laboratory of Genetics and department of agronomy, Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment, University of Wisconsin-Madison, will present a seminar at 4 p.m. today in 1014 Throckmorton Plant Sciences Center. The title of the seminar is “Sustainability and Agriculture: Report from the Front Lines.”

Jahn serves as U.S. commissioner on the Commission on Sustainable Agriculture and Climate Change. She is the former U.S. Department of Agriculture deputy undersecretary for research, education and economics. She has had a distinguished research career in plant genetics, genomics and plant breeding of vegetable crops, focusing on molecular genetics of disease resistance and quality traits. She has worked extensively in developing countries to link crop breeding with improved human nutrition and welfare.

Refreshments will be served at 3:30 p.m. prior to the seminar in the first-floor lobby of Throckmorton Hall. Jahn’s seminar is free and open to the public.
