Participate in the Innovation and Economic Prosperity designation process

Submitted by President Richard Myers and Vice President for Research Peter Dorhout

K-State is a member of the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities (APLU). The Commission on Innovation, Competitiveness, and Economic Prosperity (CICEP) created the Innovation and Economic Prosperity (IEP) Universities Designation and Awards program to recognize universities that are leaders in spurring and promoting regional economic development. Earlier this month, we announced K-State's intent to become an IEP designated university.

In pursuit of this goal, K-State is conducting a rigorous self-study to identify areas of accomplishment or strength in economic engagement and areas of improvement for a growth plan. Stakeholder input and involvement is critical to the success of obtaining the IEP designation. We have sent surveys to internal and external stakeholders identified as contributors to economic engagement, and we have planned open forums from 8-9:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, and 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 6. The forums are available in three locations; please choose one at the registration link below.

Designation as an IEP institution will allow K-State to join an elite group of only 60 institutions across the country and will serve as a valuable process and step toward achieving our goal of becoming a Top 50 Public Research Institution. The designation could result in additional state and federal funding opportunities and affords K-State the opportunity to better communicate all of the many ways economic engagement occurs as a result of faculty, staff, students, programs, centers and institutes at K-State.

Your support and feedback during this process is greatly appreciated.
