Study Abroad Office changes name to Education Abroad

Submitted by Joe Milostan

Effective Jan. 17, the Study Abroad Office will officially be renamed Education Abroad.

This new title more accurately encompasses the wide range of international opportunities offered at K-State, in addition to studying abroad, and more accurately describes the variety of experiences in which K-State students participate. These additional opportunities include service-learning, research and internships abroad and in recent years, K-State has seen an increase in student participation in these international opportunities.

The name change also allows the office to stay relevant in the field of international education. The two main professional organizations within international education — NAFSA: Association of International Educators and the Forum on Education Abroad — both refer to the field, within the wider discipline of international education, as education abroad.

For those departments or units who refer to the Study Abroad Office on their website please make note of this name change. Additionally, if your department or unit links to the Study Abroad Office website, the Education Abroad URL is changing, as well, to k-state.edu/abroad. The previous URL, k-state.edu/studyabroad will redirect to the new URL, but to avoid any errors, it is recommended to update any links to our office using the new URL.
