Lisa Alexandra Hamer will present "Brown v. Board of Education: The Justices' Prophesy" from 4-5 p.m. Nov. 14 in Hale Library's Hemisphere Room. A transcript of the Supreme Court case from 1952 can be found in the "Wisdom of the Ages" exhibit located on the second floor of Hale Library.

Following the lecture, guests can visit the exhibit and handle the transcript and many other items from the exhibit.

Hamer will examine how the justices' decided that integration leads to equality. Over a half a century later, social scientists have weighed in on whether the decision predicted a new future or a legal folly.

Hamer graduated with honors from Kenyon College and went on to receive her Juris Doctor cum laude from the University of San Francisco Law School in 2011, with a certificate in public interest law. She investigated constitutionals appeals of death row sentences for three years in California and Louisiana. Since April 2015, she has been a felony assistant public defender for the Kansas Board of Indigent Defense Services. Her specific areas of focus are social justice, particularly the intersection of race and criminality, and constitutional law.

The exhibit is on loan from the Remnant Trust, a public educational foundation. The Remnant Trust shares its growing collection on the topics of individual liberty and human dignity through traveling exhibits. "Wisdom of the Ages" will be available on the second floor of Hale Library through Dec. 16. To see a full list of items in the exhibit visit lib.ksu.edu/events.
