Hospitality management faculty present research at national conferences in Texas

Hospitality management faculty at the School Nutrition Association national conference

Faculty in the hospitality management department in the College of Human Ecology presented papers and poster sessions at two national conferences in July.  

At the July 2016 International Council of Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Educators Conference in Grapevine, Texas, faculty and student presented three posters and served on a panel: 

• Bongsug Chae, professor of management; Junehee Kwon, associate professor of hospitality management; Chen-Wei Tao, doctoral student; and Han Wen, K-State alumni, presented a poster, "Exploration of social media content related to dining experience of consumers with food allergies."

• Woohyuk Kim, doctoral student, and Kristin Malek, assistant professor of hospitality management, presented "Optional attendance, required outcomes: Medical meeting attendee motivations."

• Jichul Jang, assistant professor of hospitality management; Naiqing Lin, doctoral student; and Kevin R. Roberts associate professor and interim department head of hospitality management, presented "Effects of personal characteristics on employee organizational commitment and job related behaviors."

• Roberts presented at the Teaching Academy and was invited to be a panelist in a session titled "How to secure grants and alternative funding."

At the July 2016 School Nutrition Association's national conference in San Antonio, Texas, Kwon; Yee Ming Lee, K-State alumni; Eunhye Park, doctoral student; and Keith Rushing, Institute of Child Nutrition, presented a poster, "Use of Point-of-Service Systems in School Nutrition Programs: Types, Challenges, and Training."

With contribution from Yujia Wang, master's degree recipient from Auburn University, the team also presented "Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application and Income Verification Practices in School Nutrition Programs in the U.S."

These poster presentations are in addition to the contributions by the faculty and staff of the Center of Excellence for Food Safety Research in Child Nutrition Programs.
