2016 K-State Summer Music Camp was a success

Submitted by Don Linn

The 2016 K-State Summer Music Camp was an incredible musical experience for the 170 campers who participated.

Campers participated in two large bands, various chamber ensembles, jazz bands and sectionals. Larry Blocher, Troy University, and Jay Gilbert, Doane College, were guest conductors at the camp.

The campers — in grades 5-12 — got a taste of college life at K-State by living in the dorms, eating in the dining halls and attending rehearsals at McCain Auditorium.

The music camp staff was comprised of former and current graduate students, successful Kansas band directors, recent alumni and current K-State band leadership.

The 2017 Summer Music Camp will be June 11-15 and registration will be open in the fall.
