Guide to Personal Success mentorship opportunities now available

Submitted by Mariya B Vaughan

Registration is open for K-State faculty, staff and graduate students who are interested in serving as mentors for the 2016-2017 Guide to Personal Success program.

The Guide to Personal Success Program is one of K-State First's four program offerings and is available to all first-year students. This program pairs K-State professionals with first-year students for a one-on-one mentoring relationship.

Guides share their knowledge of resources and help students build their campus networks. The program asks that guides and mentees connect a minimum of three times per semester. Enjoying lunch in the residence halls, grabbing coffee at the library, and hiking Konza Prairie are just a few examples of how mentees and guides have connected in the past. In addition, the program offers monthly Connect events for guides and mentees to attend. Last year, these events included a K-State Theatre production, a night of snacks and holiday decorating, a yoga de-stress event and an afternoon at a baseball game.

New guides interested in registering for the 2016-2017 program are asked to complete a brief informational survey. In this survey, you will have the opportunity to tell the program coordinator about yourself so that a complimentary match can be made. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to indicate your personal matching preferences.
