The workshop will examine democratization, violence, and gender relations in the current Middle East. Speakers include scholars from Harvard University, Princeton University, Rice University, State University of New York at Binghamton, Harvard University, the University of Kansas, Kansas State University and other universities.

The event is free and open to the public. Additional support for the workshop has been provided by the College of Arts & Sciences, the Office of Military and Veteran Affairs, K-State Office for the Advancement of Women in Science and Engineering, and the vice provost for international affairs.
