Run to be a student senator

Submitted by Logan Britton

The Student Senate is comprised of elected student senators and committee members that represent the legislative branch of the Student Governing Association. Student senators are elected by students in their respective college to represent their interests.

Student senators determine how the student privilege fee is allocated to campus entities and establish policies for the K-State student body.

The college seat allocation in the Student Senate for the 2016-2017 term is:

  • College of Agriculture, seven seats
  • College of Architecture, Planning and Design, one seat
  • College of Arts and Sciences, 16 seats
  • College of Business Administration, seven seats
  • College of Education, four seats
  • College of Engineering, 10 seats
  • Graduate School, seven seats
  • College of Human Ecology, seven seats
  • College of Veterinary Medicine, one seat

A general election will be March 1-2, which will ultimately decide who will represent each college in the Student Senate.

Students can file through the Self Service menu on KSIS. Undergraduate candidates must be a full-time student with a minimum K-State GPA of 2.0 while graduate candidates must be enrolled in at least six hours and have a minimum K-State GPA of 3.0.
