OnLive Desktop: Windows and Microsoft Office on iPads

Submitted by Ben Janzen

If you have ever wanted to have the same Windows desktop on all of your devices, the era is near. OnLive is supplying an application where you can access a Windows 7 desktop with Microsoft Office 2010 for free. Currently the OnLive Desktop is only available for iPad, but the company has plans to expand the application to Android, Windows, and Mac operating systems.

What exactly is OnLive Desktop? In short, it is a Windows PC in the cloud. You can access it from anywhere you have Internet access. OnLive gives you access to Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as 2GB of storage space in the free version. In the future when the application is available for multiple devices, you will be able to access the same desktop from all of your different devices.

The OnLive Desktop for iPad uses Microsoft’s touch interface. It allows you to use handwriting recognition software that converts your handwriting into text and then allows you to insert that into your documents.
