Submitted by Craig Bourne

The Office of the Provost will conduct an expedited internal search for the interim dean of the College of Arts & Sciences.

The interim dean of the College of Arts & Sciences will serve as the chief academic and administrative officer of the college. The interim dean will have full authority of the deanship and responsibility for providing leadership and support for (1) all of the undergraduate and graduate academic degree programs in the college; (2) quality undergraduate and graduate experiences; (3) continued excellence and growth in research; (4) academic advising; (5) working productively with faculty, department heads, deans and administrators on interdisciplinary and collaborative projects; (6) maintaining close ties with alumni, benefactors and other constituents on issues related to the enhancement of the college; (7) fundraising efforts on behalf of the college; and (8) continued progress on the college K-State 2025 plan. The interim dean of the College of Arts & Sciences will report directly to the provost and serve on the Academic Council of Deans.

The search committee for the interim dean of the College of Arts & Sciences invites letters of nomination or applications — letter expressing interest, a complete curriculum vitae, and contact information for at least three references — to be submitted as soon as possible. This position is open to current employees of Kansas State University. The application deadline is Friday, Jan. 8, 2016, with interviews likely to take place the last week of January.

Anticipated appointment is by Feb. 1, 2016. Application for the position of interim dean will not preclude an individual from consideration for the permanent dean of the College of Arts & Sciences should the position become available.
