The College of Architecture, Planning & Design, or APDesign, at Kansas State University is recognizing four alumni for their success 10 years after their graduation from the university and APDesign programs.

The 2015 honorees are Brad Kingsley, Prairie Village; Daniel Creekmore, Richardson, Texas; John Payne, Brooklyn, New York; and Danielle Hollrah, Shawnee.

The honorees were selected by the department or program from which they received their degree. They will visit Manhattan Dec. 3-4 to meet with students and faculty, participate in class and studio visits, and be honored at a luncheon. An exhibit of their professional work is on display in Seaton Hall's Chang Gallery through Dec. 5. The exhibit is free and open to the public from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays.

Brad Kingsley is an architect who enjoys being involved in all phases of projects, from concept to construction. He attended Kansas State University to complete his Bachelor of Architecture and also earned a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University. Kingsley has experience in the industry after working at firms in New York and Kansas City on a wide range of projects including historic restoration, adaptive reuse, multifamily housing, government and urban design, among others.

Motivated by uncovering and resolving the inherent conflict between buildings, infrastructure and landscape, Kingsley strives to create spaces that are environmentally and culturally responsive. Presently, Kingsley works as an architect at Hufft Projects based in Kansas City, Missouri. He is interested in the intersection of civic and ecological systems, urban and rural conditions and digital and physical process.

Daniel Creekmore earned his Master of Interior Architecture & Product Design at Kansas State University. Originally from Wichita, he has worked in various areas related to architecture and design communication strategies and technology. He has worked extensively in the architectural 3-D rendering and animation industry producing pieces for a wide variety of architectural work.

Today Creekmore works for globally ranked design firm Perkins+Will, leading the VizLab, a specialized team of graphic and design professionals who work to develop and produce new and advanced media and communication tools. During his time with the VizLab at Perkins+Will, he has led new research and development in the areas of interactive applications, indoor navigation beacons and virtual reality solutions like Oculus Rift and Google Cardboard, in addition to continuing to support the firm's 3-D visualization needs.

John Payne received his master of landscape architecture from Kansas State University and has more than 20 years of broad-based professional experience. Payne brings diverse skills to his work in the field of landscape architecture. His experience as a military officer has uniquely versed him in project management, personnel and financial management, public speaking, and even security design while stationed in Afghanistan. Payne's previous career as an Army leader has instilled in him a firm belief in the power of teamwork to realizing a project to its full potential, and the personal and professional skills to play an integral role in any group.

As a landscape architect and a project manager with West 8, an award-winning international design firm, Payne has managed projects through every phase of the design and construction process, including LEED accredited developments. His project involvement has included management, design, public presentations, construction documentation, and administration and inspection. Payne has many years of experience working with numerous private and public clients and partners, at the city, state, and federal level.

Danielle Hollrah earned her Master of Regional and Community Planning from K-State and presently is the senior planner for the city of Overland Park in the Kansas Planning and Development Services Department. She serves as the project manager for all assigned development applications, reviews development proposals to ensure compliance with the city's ordinances, adopted policies and guidelines.

As the senior planner, Hollrah coordinates supporting maps, plans and other documents to effectively communicate various proposals to the review body, general public and placement on the city's website, prepares staff reports and stipulations for presentation to the appropriate review body — City Council, Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals.

"Our honoree program is a wonderful opportunity to recognize the immediate and enduring impact of our graduates, and to bring together classmates at the 10-year mark in their trajectory of excellence," said Tim de Noble, dean of the College of Architecture, Planning & Design.
