By Mary Rankin

Joe Harner, professor and head of the department of biological and agricultural engineering, has been invited to speak at the Creating an Enduring U.S. Dairy Production Sector 30th ADSA Discover Conference on Food Animal Agriculture in Itasca, Illinois, Nov. 3-5. He will present "Innovation in Animal Facilities," which will focus on dairy facility design in 2050.

He also will be a participant on an independent panel reviewing the future dairy research focus of McGill University in Montreal, Canada, Nov. 8-9.

Harner's expertise covers a broad area of livestock systems including environmental issues related to confined and nonconfined livestock production systems, nutrient management planning, dairy cattle free-stall housing, dairy cattle dry-lot housing, heat abatement for dairy cattle and manure handling systems for dairies and beef feedlots.
