Supporting the fabric of the community

By Kirk Schulz, Steve Dandaneau and Cheryl Johnson

Dear Colleagues:

As a university employee you are part of the fabric of many communities. We often speak of the K-State family; these are the words used to describe our work community. Your efforts to support our university in your daily life are deeply appreciated.

Each of us also is the member of the community where we live, K-Staters have a strong tradition of service and generosity. While there are many demands being made on all of us, we encourage you to support your local United Way.

The United Way serves a unique purpose in our communities, helping raise funds for many agencies that make up the social safety net. Our neighbors, friends and some cases family members, have benefited over the years from United Way support. They continue to need our generous support.

The United Way is authorized by the Kansas legislature to collect donations via payroll deduction. Giving is easy, you also can write a check or donate online. Your gift goes to support agencies in your community which, frankly, might not survive without the United Way fundraising efforts. These agencies focus on the health, safety, and education of our youth and struggling families.

The demand in our communities continues to grow, your gift, no matter how big or small, makes a difference. Please join us in giving to the United Way.

Go 'Cats,

Kirk Schulz, president
Steve Dandaneau, vice provost for undergraduate studies
Cheryl Johnson, vice president for human capital services
