By Mary K. Pyle

The Vernon Larson Lecture Series will host Valentina Pidlisnyuk, professor at Matej Bel University, Slovakia, and the University Jana Evangelista Purkyne in the Czech Republic, as the first speaker for the fall 2015 semester. Pidlisnyuk will present "Sustainable Development in the Ukraine and Slovakia" at 1:30 p.m. today in the Fiedler Hall Auditorium. The presentation is free and open to the public.

Pidlisnyuk teaches a sustainability course at Matej Bel University and has followed international developments in this area.

Larry Erickson, professor of chemical engineering and director for the Center for Hazardous Substance Research
brought this speaker to the attention of the Office of International Programs when she attended the 12th
International Phytotechnology Conference at K-State in September.

"The Office of International Programs is pleased to partner with Larry Erickson and the K-State Chapter American Institute of Chemical Engineers to present Valentina,” said Marcellus Caldas, assistant provost of International Faculty Collaborations and Educational Programs.
