Hospitality management student receives national Perdue Scholarship

Submitted by Jane P. Marshall

Kaitlyn Ellis, a senior in hospitality management, has received a $2,500 Joe Perdue Scholarship from the Club Managers Association of American Foundation.

The award provides tuition support to students who are pursuing careers in club management. Only five students were selected nationwide.

Ellis is the first K-State student to receive the honor, according to Kevin Roberts, associate professor and director of the undergraduate hospitality management program in the College of Human Ecology.

This summer she is a rotational management intern in the clubhouse at Interlachen Country Club, Minneapolis, Minnesota. She has completed introductory sommelier certification and plans to achieve the certified level this fall. She also hopes to become certified as a club manager.
