Schulz, DeGroat honored for service, patriotism

Submitted by Jennifer Tidball

The Topeka Military Order of the World Wars has honored two Kansas State University leaders — President Kirk Schulz and retired Army Lt. Col. Art DeGroat, the university's executive director of military and veterans affairs — for their service and patriotism.

Schulz and DeGroat received the honor at a ceremony on Tuesday, May 26, at the university's World War II Memorial on campus. The Military Order of the World Wars commended the university's work with military families and veterans as well as the university's relationships with military organizations, including collaboration with Fort Riley.

The Military Order of the World Wars was developed in 1919 and includes retired, former and active duty military members.
