Davis presents at international workshop about current issues in phytoremediation with biomass production

By Mary Reichert

On Jan. 12, Lawrence Davis, professor of biochemistry and molecular biophysics, attended the international workshop at the Department of the Environment, Faculty of Natural Resources, Matej Bel University, the Slovak Republic, where he presented "Phytoremediation with miscanthus produced for bioenergy."

The agenda of the workshop was to discuss the current research of institutions involved in the NATO Science for Peace and Security Planning Grant No. 984687. Issues discussed were increasing security of former military sites, alternative fuels for the military, and the political merit of the partnership and activities on the proposal. Development of long-term, sustainable, carbon-neutral, energy production is the ultimate goal of this program.
