Greg Eiselein receives inaugural Outstanding Faculty Member award from Kappa Alpha Theta
Kappa Alpha Theta, a national fraternity, has selected Greg Eiselein, Kansas State University professor of English, as one of the organization’s 10 inaugural honorees for its Outstanding Faculty Member award.
"We encourage our members in their academic pursuits, and we developed the Top Ten Faculty program to recognize the faculty members who support, challenge and mentor these women on a daily basis," said Laura Ware Doerre, fraternity president.
The K-State chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta nominated Eiselein for the honor for his exceptional teaching in the English department as well as his literature contributions. Eiselein has taught many members of Kappa Alpha Theta.
"I am really honored that the Thetas nominated me for this honor," Eiselein said. "This Outstanding Faculty Member award really means a lot to me because I was nominated by K-State students. As someone who loves teaching, I don't know that there are any honors or recognitions that mean more than a teaching award given by students."
Eiselein was chosen for the award among more than 110 Kappa Alpha Theta nominees from across the United State and Canada. The award was created to honor faculty members who provide universities with an incredible and inspirational learning experience.
"Those who had/have Dr. Eiselein as a professor appreciated his understanding of students and his ability to relate course information. He focused his attention on actually teaching and working with students, rather than simply lecturing at them," said Laura Parker, Kappa Alpha Theta member.
Kappa Alpha Theta was founded in 1870 at DePauw University, then Indiana Asbury College, in Greencastle, Indiana. Kappa Alpha Theta is the first Greek-letter fraternity for women and supports more than 130 college chapters and more than 200 alumnae groups across the U.S. and Canada. Membership totals nearly 251,000. Delta Eta chapter was founded at Kansas State University in 1870.
