Swanson to be distinguished visiting scholar at Chicago-area university

Diane Swanson, professor of management at the College of Business Administration, has been invited to be a distinguished visiting scholar at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill., outside of Chicago.
Swanson, an ethics expert, will be teaching a three-day course on leadership, corporate social responsibility, corporate governance and decision making, to doctoral students in a new executive Ph.D. program.
“The new doctoral program at Benedictine University for business leaders committed to building sustainable, high-integrity companies has it right. It is vitally important that business executives understand and be able to lead ethics initiatives,” said Swanson. “The research that I have done at K-State, which emphasizes corporate social responsibility in terms of the value-orientation of senior managers, fits quite well with the goals of this new program.”
Swanson is the chair of the Business Ethics Education Initiative in the college, and the von Waaden business administration professor.
“It is very rewarding to know that our faculty is sought after by other institutions,” said Ali R. Malekzadeh, Edgerley Family Dean of the College of Business Administration. “Invitations such as this one highlight the quality of our faculty and our programs”.
K-State’s master in business administration is No. 59 in the world according the Aspen Institute’s Beyond Grey Pinstripes ranking, for its inclusion of ethics, sustainability and environmental issues in the curriculum. The effort to have the program ranked has been spearheaded by Swanson.
