By Mary Rankin

Anil Pahwa, professor of electrical and computer engineering at Kansas State University, has been named a distinguished alumnus by the Birla Institute of Technology and Science-Pilani, Rajasthan, India. He is one of five people to receive this recognition annually.

Selection is based on the impact of an alumni's contribution to dissemination or creation of knowledge, enrichment of lives of people, distribution or creation of wealth, or promotion or establishment of high ethical standards in private or public life. Also taken into consideration are the person's integrity and stature, and whether he or she has brought pride to their alma mater.

The awards will be presented at the Convocation 2014 at Pilani/Goa/Hyderabad/Dubai.

Pahwa received his Bachelor of Science degree with honors in electrical engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science in India in 1975.
