Civil engineering graduate student, professor present at workshop in Hong Kong
Marta Miletic, Kansas State University doctorate student in civil engineering, presented her research, "Onset of strain localization in fiber-reinforced composites subjected to plane stress loading," at the 10th International Workshop on Bifurcation and Degradation in Geomaterials, May 28-30, at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in Kowloon, Hong Kong.
She was the only U.S. graduate student to present research at the sessions, widely considered to be the premier world scientific meeting related to research on bifurcation and degradation in geomaterials.
Miletic was accompanied by her adviser, Dunja Peric, associate professor of civil engineering at K-State, who also presented her research, "Onset of strain localization in unsaturated soils subjected to constant water content loading." Peric is currently completing a summer term as a visiting fellow at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
