Political science faculty present research at national conference

Faculty from the political science department presented research and participated on panels at the annual Midwest Political Science Association meetings from April 3-6 in Chicago.

Sam Bell, assistant professor, and Andrew Long, associate professor, presented the co-authored paper "Trade Interdependence and the Use of Force." Bell and Long also chaired separate conference panels.

Sabri Ciftci, assistant professor, presented the paper "Religiosity, Islamic Economics, and Regime Preferences in the Arab World." He also chaired a separate panel.

Brianne Heidbreder, assistant professor, presented the paper "Gubernatorial Decision Making: Assessing the Influence of Gender." She also chaired and served as a discussant for additional panels.

Carla Martinez-Machain, assistant professor, presented the paper "The Militarization of U.S. Foreign Aid." She also chaired two additional panels and served as a discussant on a third.

Josie Schafer, assistant professor, presented the paper "The Levels of Governments are Different In all Unimportant Respects." She also participated in a professional development panel sponsored by the Midwest Political Science Association's Women's Caucus.
