RSVP for the Friends of International Programs Spring Banquet on April 15

By Mary Pyle

The international programs office and the Friends of International Programs invite you to our 2014 Friends of International Programs spring banquet Tuesday, April 15, at the Holiday Inn at the Campus, 1641 Anderson Ave.

A social hour, silent auction and cash bar start at 6 p.m. The program remarks will begin at 7 p.m. followed by dinner and a presentation by Mary Tolar, director of the School of Leadership Studies.

Tolar and her students from a service learning team that traveled and worked in Puebla, Mexico, will share their experience in La Preciosita, near Puebla, Mexico.

The cost is $35 per person, and $10 is tax deductible. Please RSVP online. If you would like to sponsor a student’s attendance the cost is $25 and is 100 percent deductible. If you have questions contact Barbara Lippman at 785-532-5498 or bjlippma@k-state.edu.

During the 2013-2014 school year, Kansas State University welcomed 2,113 international students representing 108 countries. More than 450 students enroll in the university's English language program and 97 percent of those students go on to academic work at K-State. The international programs office provides 164 scholarship opportunities totaling more than $400,000 to deserving students and close to 700 students study or participate in an international experience abroad.

The friends' organization understands the importance of providing an international education for all students, helping to ensure that they excel as leaders in a world that increasingly demands an understanding of other cultures and societies. Thanks to the support provided by our friends, the international programs office is better able to achieve the important task of preparing our students to be global citizens.

Join us Tuesday, April 15, at the Friends of International Programs banquet.
