Ed O’Malley, president and CEO of the Kansas Leadership Center, will headline the 18th annual K-State Leadership Seminar on Tuesday, March 11. The seminar will be from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the K-State Student Union.

O’Malley, a K-State alumnus and former Kansas legislator, will discuss his new book "For the Common Good." Sessions throughout the day will focus on the four competencies of effective leaders outlined by O’Malley:
• Manage self
• Diagnose situation
• Intervene skillfully
• Energize others

Every 2014 registration will include a free copy of  "For the Common Good."

University President Kirk Schulz will welcome seminar participants in the morning and at lunch, National Geographic photographer Jim Richardson will delve into the portrayal of leadership through photography.

The K-State Leadership Seminar aims to enhance the leadership skills and capacities of the university community and communities throughout Kansas.

The objectives of the seminar are:
• To orchestrate an annual leadership development experience that provides practical, hands-on information, tools, and best practices and next practices for effective leadership.
• To cultivate a learning community, connecting K-State faculty and staff with an interest in leadership development.
• To facilitate opportunities for continued learning beyond the annual seminar.
