One of the best: K-State listed among U.S. News and World Report's top colleges

Kansas State University has once again been named among the best major universities in America.
U.S. News and World Report rated K-State among the top 75 public universities in its 2012 edition of "Best Colleges." The College of Engineering's undergraduate program is among the top 40 public universities nationwide that offer doctorate degrees. K-State's engineering program was the highest ranked Kansas school.
K-State ranked No. 143 among both private and public universities, and the engineering program was listed as No. 66 overall. U.S. News and World Report's national guidebook ranks America's elite universities on such categories as faculty resources, undergraduate and academic reputation, and graduation and retention rates.
The rankings are being released as K-State rolls out its plan to rise to further prominence.
"As we work toward becoming a top 50 public research university by 2025, Kansas State University will continue to be recognized among the country's premier institutions," said K-State President Kirk Schulz. "Our faculty, staff and students are making sure the nation's first land-grant university will build upon our enviable reputation and prestige."
U.S. News and World Report also named K-State on its list of A-plus schools where "spirit and hard work could make all the difference."
"With programs like K-State First -- an integrated effort to create an outstanding first-year student experience -- our students successfully transition to college life and academics," said Pat Bosco, K-State's vice president for student life and dean of students. "First-year students at K-State reach new heights academically, and they have the opportunity to connect with faculty, staff and students on a personal level."
Other major publications recently listed K-State among the nation's top universities.
The Princeton Review's "The Best 376 Colleges" for 2012 picked K-State as one of the nation's best institutions for undergraduate education. The Princeton Review ranked K-State No. 2 in the nation where campus and community relations are great, No. 14 in quality of life and No. 15 in campus food. K-State was also ranked one of the country's best schools in Forbes magazine's 2011 list of best colleges.
"This national attention will help guide even more parents and students to discover Kansas State University," Bosco said. "K-State students have the best undergraduate experience in the country both inside and outside the classroom."
