Leena Chakrabarti publishes article in Academic Advising Today

By Mary K. Pyle

Leena Chakrabarti, assistant director in the English language program, which is offered through the international programs office, published an article in Academic Advising Today.

Chakrabarti’s article addresses the urgency by U.S. universities to meet the advising needs of international students on U.S. campuses. She discusses the structural model and the ideological underpinnings of the advising program in the English language program at K-State.

Chakrabarti’s article, "Reflecting on the Foundation of the Academic Advising Program in the English Language Program at Kansas State University," is featured in the December issue of the National Academic Advising Association e-publication, Academic Advising Today.

Chakrabarti's entire article can be accessed at: http://www.nacada.ksu.edu/Resources/Academic-Advising-Today/View-Articles/Reflecting-on-Academic-Advising-in-the-English-Language-Program-at-Kansas-State-University.aspx#sthash.KlAuMD0y.dpuf.

K-State's English language program is a member of the Consortium of University and College Intensive English Programs and the American Association of Intensive English Language Programs. The program is also accredited by the Commission on English Language Program Accreditation, which is the only specialized accrediting agency for English language programs and institutions in the U.S. K-State's English language program recently received 10-year reaccreditation from the commission.
