By Sam Mwangi

Nancy Muturi and Sam Mwangi, both associate professors in the A.Q. The article is based on research conducted over two years assessing students’ motivation for participating in service-learning projects that are embedded in the curriculum.Students’ expectations indicate a need for discipline-focused service-learning programs and for a focus on civic engagement as a tool for understanding service learning.
