Jeff Morris, vice president for communications and marketing at Kansas State University, will receive the 2013 Wildcat Pride Award, which recognizes K-State faculty or staff who have been instrumental in advancing the mission of the K-State Alumni Association through the support of its programs.

Morris received the award at the association’s fall board meeting Oct. 10. The award honors a current or emeritus K-State faculty or staff member for his/her advocacy of alumni relations, with a special emphasis on support and participation in alumni programs that engage members of the Wildcat family.

"Jeff Morris' vision for all K-State affiliates to work together as one voice for the university has benefited the association by enhancing its visibility on a broader scale than the association could achieve on its own,” said Amy Button Renz, president and CEO of the association. "He is a loyal advocate for the K-State Alumni Association. Our staff is honored to acknowledge this very special member of the K-State family with the 2013 Wildcat Pride Award."

Morris is a 1980 K-State graduate with a degree in journalism and mass communications. With experience in both the private sector and public higher education, he returned to his alma mater in February 2010 to become the first vice president for communications and marketing, where he supervises news, photo, publication and video services, as well as new units in marketing research and Web design. Under his leadership, Morris’ staff works with association staff and communications representatives for K-State’s colleges and departments to coordinate communications initiatives that support the association's programs in the campus community and beyond.

Prior to K-State, Morris served as chief communications officer for the University of Central Missouri, in multiple roles for several advertising firms, as a reporter for the Dodge City Daily Globe and as a communications specialist and publications editor for Kansas Gas & Electric Co.
