Geography colloquium on Friday discusses waste management in Mexico

By Charles Martin

As part of the geography department's colloquium series, visiting instructor of geography Andrew Hilburn will give the public presentation "Beyond Generation and Classification: Garbage Management and Its Construction as an Environmental Issue in Coxcatlan, Puebla, Mexico" at 3:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 4, in 132 Seaton Hall.

The talk will focus on the sustainable management of garbage in a rural sub-state of Mexico and consider various factors that affect how waste is viewed there as an environmental issue. The talk is sponsored by the Beta Psi chapter of Gamma Theta Upsilon, the international geography honor society.
