Title: Interaxle Differential

Abstract: The interaxle differential technology will provide an improved center differential device for use in a four-wheel drive driveline systems. The differential includes a one way clutch to prevent the transmission of negative torque, but without adding substantial weight and cost to the driveline. The differential automatically transfers torque to the rear drive wheels when the front wheels begin to spin. The differential accomplishes this without the need for a separate control arrangement or speed sensors.
Application:
- Four-wheel drive cars
- Four-wheel drive trucks
- Four-wheel drive sport utility vehicles and vans
- All-terrain vehicles
Advantages: This patented mechanism reduces the complexity and cost of the driveline system, and automatically transfers torque from the front wheels to the rear wheels upon loss of traction.
Other benefits include:
· positive torque can be transmitted when the vehicle is in reverse gear
· negative torque is not transmitted when braking
