Your international experience doesn’t have to be limited to just studying abroad. It is possible to get involved in teaching abroad as an undergraduate or after graduation!
Examples of Teaching Abroad Opportunities
Undergraduate - Internships Abroad
- World Endeavors
World Endeavors is a K-State affiliate that offers internships and volunteer programs in Australia, Brazil, Costa Rica, Ecuador, England, India, Italy, Mexico, Nepal, Spain, and other countries around the world; most last from one to six months in virtually every academic field, including education.
- International Studies Abroad (ISA)
ISA is a K-State affiliate that offers volunteer programs in Argentina, Peru, Chile, Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Costa Rica in a variety of educational areas, including school and community programming, museum education, continuing education, tutoring, teaching English, etc.; Spanish fluency will be tested prior to placement. - AustraLearn
AustraLearn is a K-State affiliate program designed to provide education majors with a teaching internship in Australia or New Zealand.
- Academic Programs International (API)
API is a K-State affiliate program that provides teaching internships in Spain in local elementary or high schools. Varying levels of Spanish are required depending on the placement.
Post-Graduate
- Fulbright English Teaching Assistantships (ETA)
The Fulbright is sponsored by the US Department of State, the Fulbright Program offers opportunities for recent graduates, postgraduate candidates, and developing professionals and artists to study, research, and assistant-teach for one academic year. Candidates may choose from 140 different nations and must speak the language of the host country. ETAs last generally for one academic year.

The Peace Corps is a US government service organization that sends volunteers of all ages to live and work on development projects for 2 years in over 75 countries throughout Africa, Asia, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, and the Middle East. - The Japanese Exchange and Teaching Program (JET)
Sponsored by the Japanese Government, the JET Program allows graduates the opportunity to teach English in Japan for 1 to 3 years to help increase mutual understanding and internationalize Japan.
Teach English in after-school classes to elementary school students for nine hours
per week during the semester. Scholarships in the form of living and travel stipends
are provided. Participant are awarded the Certificate of English Teaching Volunteer
from President of Korea.
- ESL Café

GoOverseas’s Go Teach Abroad website is a user rated listing of teach abroad opportunities, such as governmental agencies and program providers that are searching for people to teach English as a second language. Each organization is rated by past participants based on benefits, support, facilities, fun, and safety of the program. Organizational contact information is also provided for interested participants
