Foreign Language Credit Transfer Sessions (304 Fairchild Hall)

Somer Chalfant from Admissions will explain the general credit transfer process for students taking classes abroad. Professors from the Department of Modern Languages will explain the credit transfer process for modern language classes. This Q & A session will help you plan your courses while abroad as well as when you return to K-State!

A great opportunity to find out ways to finance your study abroad experience! Jim Hohenbary, Asst. Dean for Scholarship Admin., will discuss external national scholarships, and staff from the Office of International Programs will explain the OIP Scholarships. Dyan Marie from Student Financial Aid will also be available to discuss funding options.

Julie Gibbs from Lafene Health Center will give a short presentation on ways to prepare for health and safety issues abroad. Students will also be given information about services provided by Lafene Health Center.

Returned Student Re-Entry Event (304 Fairchild Hall)

An opportunity for returning students to share experiences, meet other students who have studied abroad, and overcome some of the struggles of reverse culture shock upon returning to the U.S. and K-State.


Study Abroad Professional Development Workshop: Putting Your International Experience to Work (hosted by Career and Employment Services) [Student Union Room TBD]

Thursday, October 4, 2012 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Designed in collaboration with Career & Employment Services, this workshop provides returned study abroad students advice on how to discuss an international experience on a resume, in a cover letter, or in a job interview.

Pre-Departure  Orientation Sessions

All students studying abroad during the summer and fall seasons are required to attend the Pre-Departure Orientation. The orientation will provide students with pre-departure information, including insurance requirements, student visa procedures, and other important preparation materials. Students will also learn cultural information and connect with students who are from, have studied in, or plan to study in the same location.

All session are currently TBD, but will take place in  November.
