Financial Aid

The financial aid you normally receive at K-State can typically be applied to any approved credit-bearing study abroad program. To receive financial aid for your study abroad experience, you must complete the FAFSA application that you normally complete to receive financial aid. Once you apply and have been accepted to a study abroad program, your study abroad advisor will create a cost sheet for you which outlines all expenses you can expect to incur during your study abroad experience.  Once you have signed and turned in this cost sheet to the Study Abroad Office, your Study Abroad Advisor will work with you and the Office of Student Financial Assistance to ensure you’re able to apply your financial aid to study abroad.

Scholarships

There are many scholarship opportunities for study abroad students at KSU!

There are several scholarships awarded by the KSU Study Abroad Office for study abroad programs. Some scholarships are awarded to just 1 student, others are awarded to multiple students.

  • KSU academic colleges & departments

Several departments and colleges at KSU offer study abroad scholarships for their students, including the College of Business Administration, the College of Engineering, the College of Human Ecology, to name a few.

  • Program Providers

Most of the program providers, or 3rd party providers, the study abroad office is affiliated with offers scholarships to students who go on their programs. A few of these organizations even give the KSU study abroad office scholarship money to award exclusively to KSU students who go on their programs!

  • National

There are many nationally competitive study abroad scholarships with a variety of different requirements. Some national scholarships are based on academic merit, financial need, academic major, foreign language study, non-traditional locations, etc. For more information about nationally competitive scholarships, contact:

  • Other

If you are really motivated, you can do some research on your own. Try contacting large banks or insurance companies and ask if they offer study abroad scholarships. You can also check with any professional organizations you may be affiliated with, fraternities or sororities, local governments, churches, or other organizations may offer study abroad scholarships as well.
