This course will cover means (tested and theoretical) to prevent diabetes. The course will present information from two perspectives: current US approaches and approaches presented from the 2008 World Congress on Prevention of Diabetes (conference held in Helsinki, Finland). Topics include: influence of health care systems, affect of various exercise and diet modifications on risk, economic impact of diabetes and how personal financial situations affect diabetes risk. (2 hours undergraduate credit).

Join this trip to improve you Spanish. Students will earn a total of 9 credit hours, including the K-State course, Spanish Civilization:
SPAN 565, for six weeks in Salamanca, Spain.

Spend 5 weeks in Germany improving your German. This trip consists of a 3 week language program followed by a 2 week K-State culture class which includes visits to Berlin, Dresden and around Leipzig. Students will enroll in Special Studies in German.

Join this trip for 2 months in Italy. Students will be spending 1 month in Rome and the other in Florence, with many opportunities to travel to other destinations. Students will enroll in European Literature in Translation: MLANG 507 and in other courses at Lorenzo de Medici.

A 15-day intensive Animal Science study tour that will introduce students to the equine industry in Ireland, Scotland and England, including production and management practices, major breeds and uses, and educational opportunities in the UK and Ireland. The tour will include trips to three universities, a number of equine breeding and training operations, and several support and activity-based facilities. The culture and history of the area will also be studied. The course will include preparatory class meetings during the spring semester to acquaint students with the various breeds of horses, countries, and locations that will be visited.

Spend your summer in Querétaro, México and earn 9 hours of Spanish language and culture credits. Classes will be held at the Quéretaro Campus of the prestigious Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (ITESM). While in Querétero, you’ll have the chance to immerse yourself in the culture and language by living with a family.

Students will have the opportunity to study great artists, thinkers and leaders of the Classical Period, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance in the setting in which they lived and worked. Students will spend time in Florence, Venice, Rome, Sorrento, and Sienna. A variety of 3 credit courses are available including ARCH 715: Urban Space in Italy, ART 695: Topics in Art History, MLANG 507: European Literature in Translation, PHIL 215A/690: Machiavelli and the Foundations of Modern Political Philosophy, PHIL 215B: Aesthetics, PHIL 298: Science, Perception and Fiction, and Post-War Italian Cinema.

AGEC 460 The tour will involve visits to several farms aand agribusinesses in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Visits will cover the main agricultural enterprises in Ireland - beef, dairy, sheep, and tillage in addition to agritourism, equine, and the brewing and distilling industries.

The purpose of this class is to introduce students to the agricultural industry in New Zealnd, including livestock production and management practices,crop and vegetable production, and wildlife. The tour will also include a number of sightseeing opportunities throughout New Zealand. The course will have prepatory class meetings during the spring semester to acquaint students with the various livestock, crops, agricultural industries, and culture of the people of New Zealand. The cost for this trip is $4385 (based on less than 15 participants) plus tuition. College of Ag Students that apply for the $500 COA Scholarship will have a trip cost of $3885 plus tuition. This cost includes airfare, travel within the country, most meals, and all program and administrative fees. Students participating on this tour will be required to enroll in GENAG 505 for 3 credit hours. ASI majors can use GENAG 505 for both an Ag Elective and 3 hrs of UGE relief. Financial aid is available to most students.
