Faculty Leaders
We are glad you are interested in offering a faculty-led program! Faculty-Led Programs are an excellent way for students to get a taste of international experiences and allow them to study abroad without interrupting their regular course work at Kansas State University. These programs allow students and faculty a unique opportunity to travel in an educational setting at the lowest possible cost by traveling during times when classes are not in session; by securing group rates; and by arranging student accommodation. Programs are focused by topic and include Kansas State University course credit, organized activities and cultural encounters. These opportunities can be a very rewarding experience not only for the students, but for the faculty leader as well.
The Study Abroad Office (SAO) is here to provide assistance throughout the planning and proposal processes. Planning a program begins no less than 12-18 months prior to the projected departure dates of the program. These pages provide information you will use to move forward as you develop your program. Information, such as, the proposal deadlines and process, university policies and other faculty resources can be found on the following pages. The Study Abroad Office will hold a Faculty Leader Orientation for all new faculty leaders. It is a one-time required meeting where staff from Lafene Health Center, General Counsel, Student Services, Counseling Services and Disability Services will speak about topics related to leading a faculty-led program.
Please contact your college dean and Rebecca Murrow (rebm@ksu.edu), Faculty Services Coordinator in the Study Abroad Office, as soon as you begin thinking about developing a program. She will be able to assist and provide helpful feedback through the proposal process. The Study Abroad Office looks forward to working with you!
